Room 4 was spacious; had a fireplace.
The wood was probably wet as it smoked up the entire room; the smoke alarm went off three times. We breathed smoke most of the night... smelled like smoke the next day.
Friendly staff. Gave us a great room - actually a house trailer to better accommodate my 91 year-old mother.
Proximity to Mt. Ranier National Park.
Shabby cabin, had to pay for extra people (4 in a two-Q cabin), but then didn't get towels for 4 until I asked. WiFi worked at first but then stopped working. No free breakfast.
Too expensive and doesnt include breakfast
Staff was friendly and helpful. However, your booking made for some changes. We had requested a first floor room---they do not have any first floor rooms, and we did not find out until we got there. Luckily, they also have cabins and one was available; however, it cost us an extra $10.00, which did not make us very happy. That was Booked.net's fault, not the inn's!
the attitude of the personnel is really really bad, I think may be the boss. it has a very bad washroom, only fit to very thin people, don't think any western people can use the washroom or bathroom, anyone over 100lbs. will be very difficult, cannot even think of any small kid who need help of the parents in the washroom which is impossible. And, that personnel complained about Booked.net too. I think the co-ordination, information is not fully given and clear.
We loved the rustic log cabin room that we stayed in. The kids enjoyed the free tv, and it had plenty of amenities: full-size fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, three full-size beds.
It was very cold in our room, even though the host had turned the heat on in anticipation of our arrival. We built a fire, but that didn't help. We ended up turning the thermostat all the way up, but it was still very cold in the room even when we woke up.
I came there around 8:00p.M. and the office told me that the room I had rent was gone. He would upgrade it to a cabin which was more expensive. It was not my fault but I had to pay extra for the upgraded room, or go somewhere else. I was really left with no options since every hotel around was no vacancy. The heater in the room was noisy, so I had to turn it on and off many times during the night.
Worst motel experience in this country! The owner is misleading - it's actually called Gateway Inn Motel, but even without the normal motel quality. No air-conditioning; all the furnatures are broken and crappy, looked like being picked up from the dumster. The only renovation is the shower area but with poor installation - shower door is not fully closable, so the shower water splashed outside to the floor and formed a big puddle in the bathroom. The toilet area can barely let a average-sized person to get in. The cancel policy is rediculously stringent- you can understand why after you lived there: it can only trap potential guests from internet. If you check the room before you make reservation, you will leave right away. I booked this place after I read so many good reviews. I am wondering who gave those good reviews?
availability to down town
over priced for what we got
Friendly, welcoming staff. Spacious room with comfortable amenities. Great food available in restaurant served by very friendly hostess.
The location to the park entrance was very convienient. The hotel is in need of many up grades.
I did not enjoy the gateway at all. I was highly disappointed! I wanted to turn around and go home:(
Excellent location and that's about it. Considered sleeping in the car upon seeing the room.
When we arrived, the door to our room was wide open! While I was grossed out by the cobwebs, I decided to leave them be, as there were plenty of insects flying around. Also, this place is in serious need of renovation! Our $108 room had mismatched everything, uncomfortable beds, a well-used orange chair from the seventies, pink toilet, marlite wall panels, and two different kinds of flooring in the bathroom. There was also a nice note informing us that we needed to hold the toilet handle down when flushing. Why not just fix it?! Needless to say, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The location is not that good. It's right outside of the park, but far away from everything else. The onsite restaurant was closed during my stay. We had to drive back to Ashford for dinner. For the night we were there, there were several ~10min power outages of the whole properties.
1. The location is good: The cabin we stayed is really close to the entrance of Mt. Rainier National Park (from Ashford). 2. The interior is clean. The space is large enough for 4 people. The bed is comfortable. TV and wireless are provided and work just fine. For a price of $129, I think the quality is good. 3. They also own a restaurant and a convention store nearby. It is convenient to get something you want but you forget to bring.
